UH Maui/Food Innovation Center

In July of 2016 The Makana Aloha Foundation was invited to learn more about the UH Maui Food Innovation Center, which will serve as a catalyst for transforming food production in our local community, supporting local agriculture, generating new businesses and jobs, contributing to more locally produced foods and providing greater food security.

Their mission is to build a stronger, economically diverse, and sustainable Maui Nui by supporting a value-added industry for locally grown and produced food.

Armed with government funding to renovate an existing space on the UH Maui Campus the Food Innovation center is poised to transform into the new Maui Food Innovation Center fostering a partnership for all aspects of food production on Maui.

The Makana Aloha Foundation believes supporting local agriculture through partnerships in the community is the right way to ensure food security and innovation now and into the future.  We look forward to seeing the completed facility in 2019.
