UH Maui-Institute of Hawaiian Music scholarship

In October of 2012 The Makana Aloha Foundation was given the opportunity to help raise $100,000 to match a generous $100,000 donation from the Harold K.L. Castle Foundation to create the U.H. Maui College Institute of Hawaiian Music Scholarship Fund.

To help meet this match, the Makana Aloha Foundation donated $55,000 and the match was met with other donations from generous donors.  This donation has resulted in three graduating classes from the program, culminating in the winning of the Nā Hōkū Hanohano for Best Compilation Album in 2016.

The Institute continues to thrive with a significant Federal grant awarded in 2016 for the building of a new studio on the U.H. Maui campus.

The Makana Aloha Foundation is proud to partner with the U.H. Maui College Institute of Hawaiian Music to help create the next generation of Hawaiian Musicians.
